ICT teachers from upper secondary schools in Phnom Penh and Kandal province receive training on Khmer language applications and

16 November 2007 - 60 ICT teachers from 15 upper secondary schools in Phnom Penh and Kandal province were invited by the Open Schools Program for 40 hours of training on the use and teaching of Khmer Unicode and Khmer language Free and Open Source applications, as well as on Computer Maintenance and Networking.

The training took place at the facilities of the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh from the 12th to the 16th of October. 60 teachers were trained on how to teach Khmer language computer applications such as OpenOffice, Mekhala and Moyura. They were taught to use the new spell-checker for Khmer language, as well as the Khmer Unicode typing tutor. Some of the teachers were already familiar with the applications, as they have been using them for teaching for the last two academic years.

The training on Computer maintenance aims at giving them the skills for first-level computer maintenance necessary to maintain the facilities in the schools in which they work.
